California Socialite Rebecca Grossman Convicted of Manslaughter

Grossman's Negligence Resulted in Tragic Loss of Innocent Lives

Rebecca Grossman, a prominent Southern California socialite, has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for killing two young brothers in a crosswalk. Grossman, who co-founded a burn center foundation, was found guilty of manslaughter in February. The victims, 11-year-old Yahir Solorio and 13-year-old Lorenzo Solorio, were crossing the street when Grossman's vehicle struck them in 2020.

Authorities determined that Grossman was intoxicated and driving recklessly at the time of the accident. She fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. In court, prosecutors presented evidence that Grossman's actions were grossly negligent and showed a disregard for human life. The defense argued that Grossman had no prior criminal record and expressed remorse for her actions, but the jury ultimately rejected those claims.

The family of the victims expressed relief and gratitude at the verdict. They said that the sentence, while not bringing back their loved ones, provided some closure and accountability. Grossman's husband, who was in the vehicle with her at the time of the accident, also expressed remorse and said that he deeply regretted his wife's actions.
